Tight Jeans - A short Film Written and Directed by Destiny Ekaragha

Tight Jeans directed by Destiny Ekaragha.

Tight jean is a short film in which three teenagers are sitting on a wall waiting for a lift from a friend and we are shown a documentation of their conversation which is sparked from the trio seeing a man wearing tight jeans. They don't shy from sharing what they really think, from hilariously discussing why black men can't wear tight jeans, then relating this to 'white girls', then they somehow connect this to slavery and different races.

My thoughts on Tight Jeans:
I thought Tight jeans was a funny well performed short film and I liked how open it was as the boys discuss topics that aren't quite unspoken and this side and representation of male friendships and their 'throw away' as such conversations usually shown in movies at all, so I thought this was a new approach and I really enjoyed it, however I do think that it should have progressed a little bit more from just sitting on the wall because I thought it was cut short a little too early and a change of scene or an event happening would have improved it both for the film itself and the audience.

How could this influence our own work?

Tight Jeans could influence our work as it inspires us to make a film that isn't of the norm and touches on unspoken subjects that have a shock factor and aren't publicly represented as I thought what made this film stand out was that we were surprised by the vibrant conversation and weren't expecting anything of that nature.

Comments

  1. This film is quite 'dialogue heavy' - do you think you might create a script that focuses on the way people talk about everyday things?
